| The Homestead
A portion of this farmhouse is the original cabin built in the late 1700s by dairy farmers with a herd of over 600 cattle. In 1840 the home was enlarged, adding a 3000 square feet period colonial to the original cabin.
In 2009 the house was completely restored, taking painstaking measures to preserve all of the original moldings, heart pine floors, staircase, doors and interior plaster walls.
Upon entering this home, one immediately senses the rich history of those who came before.
The house has a wonderful fireplace in the living room in addition to a wood burning stove in the "pub room". The master suite has a vaulted ceiling, a walk in closet and a spacious master bath with a double mosaic tile shower and 2 seperate vanities. There are 3 additional bedrooms, 2 additional full baths, an artists loft, formal dining, and kitchen with granite counters and a granite island. There is over 1000 feet of covered porches with BBQ and outdoor fireplace.
Bordering the property is an 8 stall horse barn, miles of horse fencing for the horses current on the property , Scottish Highlander Cattle and Holstein cows. There are multiple charming outbuildings and a 9 acre pond for boating or fishing, in addition to over 100 acres of meadows and woodlands.
The home is a true retreat that transports one to another time.
